Role of multislice computed tomography 3D volumetric analysis in the assessment of the therapeutic response of hepatocellular carcinoma after transarterial chemoembolization

Abstract Background Volumetric analysis is a novel radiological technique used in the measurement of target lesions three dimensions order to estimate lesion’s volume. Recently, it has been for evaluation remaining liver volume after partial hepatectomy and also response tumours treatment. It proven be more accurate than standard one or two-dimensional measurements, especially useful complex interventional methods when use limited. In current study, our aim was evaluate value three-dimensional (3D) volumetric method “Response Evaluation Criteria Solid Tumours (vRECIST)” compare with non–three-dimensional (RECIST) modified RECIST (mRECIST) assessment therapeutic hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) transarterial chemoembolization (TACE). Results A retrospective study conducted on 50 patients confirmed pathological diagnosis who underwent TACE as only procedure follwed up by triphasic CT 1 4 months The revealed significant difference between mRECIST vRECIST HCC TACE, weak agreement found both detection complete (CR), (PR), stable disease (SD) progressive (PD). Also, there no regarding classifying into responders nonresponders. Conclusion an effective measuring evaluating its locoregional treatment response, which turn help radiologist decide future treatments change plans. Based these results, we recommend essential part therapy.
